before i got this e-mail, i recieved a Christmas greeting form the manager. This considerate movement really attracts me to have the desire to study in LUBS!

Again, friendly people/surrounding and the fascinating experience of the alumni gave me a excellent impression.
On the Internet, I found Cass and LUMS have their own channel on Youtube. These movies reveal real life of their students, including the process of their lecture and semina. These promotion movies make me understand the programmes further.
The students in Cass always show aggressive attitudes( behaving in a very determined and forceful way in order to succeed) toward companies and professors. It is a employment-oriented school. However, LUBS and LUMS display a academic atmosphere.
It is undeniable that the Business School may be a place demostrating the extreme of utilitarianism/materialism. But there is still a need to pursuit the happiness of absorbing/ cultivating knowledge. All in all, it is a wonderful experience for me through the process of application.

眼前的幸福
這次準備雅思考試及申請學校有一些心得感想，不過跟英文或英國學校並沒有直接的關係，而是一些心中的感觸。
British Taught Programmes對於畢業學校的reputation及在校成績的看重程度讓我驚訝，甚至看到某間著名的學校網站直接寫明只收台灣國立大學學生，除非你私立大學畢業又有國立碩士學位。我不是國立大學畢業的，聽說明會時說實話真的有點沮喪，可喜的是在校成績不會慘不忍睹。也許他們想收專業知識基礎比較好的學生，因為個人爆發力或潛力這種事的確有點難以評斷，站在學校立場思考也是可以理解。
回母校一趟正值拍畢業照的季節，在學校晃了一圈真的覺得自己很幸運在我喜愛的地方就讀，也發現了許多我在學校不知道或不珍惜，現在看來卻分外珍貴的資源。學校有開設Chatting Time讓全校學生可以免費參加與外籍或台籍老師練習英文會話，也有社團如Movie Conversation Club，每次上課會看一部電影並且與外籍老師和其他學生一起討論觀賞心得。這是我在學時就有的資源，但我當時從沒認真考慮過留學也沒真正體認到英語的重要，第二外語課也是，只要不超過學校規定每學期修課上限，也是可以自由選修。
跟剛從英國旅行回來的老師上了一對一家教，也對留學的台灣學生不夠積極參與課外活動，下課後不參加聚會或同學會不社交感到失望，說英文的機會只剩在課堂那幾十或幾百分之一的機率。
說穿了，你的行動力決定了你的一切，『即知』在現代網路世代不算件難事，『即行』才是那微乎其微但關鍵的百分之一。
一位同學從澳洲留學回台，每年系上都會請他跟學弟妹分享留學經驗。我想過如果是自己會提出甚麼建議，沒想到腦海中第一個冒出的是世界上最老掉牙的答案：好好用功讀書，我想這個答案應該會得到哄堂大笑的回應，第二個是廢話：加強英文，最好畢業論文用英文書寫，第三個同樣無聊：與系上師長及同學保持聯繫，這次真的很感謝系主任幫我寫一篇文情並茂的reference，助教學長姐幫我順利在當天可以拿到某些文件的急件也幫我跟主任接洽，貴人的協助真的很重要。
這些建議在大學及父母的羽翼呵護下成長的學弟妹無法體會也是正常，就如我來說成為社會人後才能算的上〝稍微認識〞以上三點老掉牙建議的重要。如同成語『蓋棺論定』：還沒到那天誰也無法得知結果是好是壞。

考了兩次雅思的心得

聽：每次聽力都會習慣性恍神一下，我覺得比較簡單但只有6.5。難度倒是跟劍六差不多。深深覺得恍神害了自己。
讀：第一次考試的閱讀真的比第二次困難許多，Heading和Matching一堆。還記得有一組Matching是一堆機構的簡寫，但是文章中那些機構出現次數都會有兩次以上，看到時真的有從天堂掉到地獄的感覺。我覺得比劍六困難多了。
寫：第一次考得是table題，考前幾天練過一篇，task 2的題目就真的沒有準備過，但是我有寫出自己的觀點不過結論我沒有倒向一邊，有點不知所云。第二次Task 1考流程圖因為沒有準備到整個傻眼亂亂寫，我想這是第二次比第一次低分的原因，Task 2是準備過的題目。
說：這兩次的成績都讓我傻眼。第一次老師的冷反應加上以前沒經驗讓我緊張到不行，整個句型文法大亂。老師聽到喜歡的答案時會點點頭，不喜歡時就臉很臭完全沒反應。而我呢，part 2因為是沒準備到的題目，簡直是亂說一通。結束後老師還說well done，心想哪裡done well了？老外果然很會騙人！第二次有準備過的題目我覺得講得還不錯老師也很親切卻低分。這部分我完全不知道考官的標準。
結論：
1.習慣性恍神的壞習慣。
2.聽和讀建議大家精讀劍橋系列一到兩本即可。重點是一定要仔細檢討複習。
3.過來人的經歷：聽和讀只做劍六一本；寫和說是靠補習班老師給的資料做準備，另一個寫說重點是要有critical thinking，這就要靠自己多多涉獵不同議題加上長時間訓練。
補習經驗：
簡單來說，我參加的是震撼教育班，因為老師會不斷的轟炸我們這群草莓族學生！特點是它是實實在在的小班制﹝六人﹞雅思解題技巧班。
覺得六人以下的小班制真的差很多，因為老師可以實際針對每位學生的弱項作加強。像我上的這班練習speaking時，不是學生互相練習然後老師巡視，而是老師和每位同學一對一練習，老師會針對你的回答直接立即糾正，可想而知一開始學生很容易有挫折感，因為老師是不留情面明白地指出你的錯誤，不過大家繳了這麼多銀子，不就是要得到實質回饋，然後讓自己的雅思成績能夠進步嗎？
老師是在英國里茲念的TESOL碩士，最近剛從英國旅遊回來了。要開始跟老師上一對一課程加強我最沒自信的口說部分。

傻呆行為之申請雅思成績單篇
今天跑去IDP申請雅思成績單，才知道原來考生本人只能有一份(就是當初通知成績那份)，就算掉了也不能補發，所謂的申請雅思成績單，收件人只可以是學校機構或獎學金單位。幸好本人今天去東區不是為了專辦此事，否則傻呆的大頭針立刻升級為大憨呆。
最可笑的莫過於大頭針提出的問題：

因為喜歡所以拿手【好きだから上手】
今天看了無字幕版的【おひとりさま】，發現一個驚人的事實：自己的日文聽力竟然比英文好！更重要的是喜歡聽日文勝於英文？！完了......這是要去英國念書的人該有的心態嗎？
英文是從小五開始接觸，那時被補習班英文老師稱讚發音標準，因為被鼓勵對於學習英文這件事也就變得比較努力。現在看來，反倒是那時的自己對於學習英文較具熱忱。
日語則是國中開始接觸日劇，加上高中聽大量的日文歌及接觸日本偶像情報而對日文五十音熟稔。從來沒有看著過五十音的表背誦，而是聽日文歌對應日文歌詞，及網友翻譯對應日雜原文。日積月累下來，聽力及閱讀勉強說得過去，不過得承認這樣並不會具備文法基礎。
第一齣日劇：東京ラブストリー
第一次喜歡上的偶像團體：KinKi Kids

It's so frustrating.....
Today I attended the speaking class as usual.
At the beginning, when I told the answers what the teacher asked me. she asked me "Why did you keep looking at the pencil instead of the examiner?"
What a fool I am? I laughed and kept the wrong attitude.....
Finally, she directly spoke to me it's disrespectful to the examiners!
And another thing is the television at home doesn't work. And i just paid the expense of next half a year!!!

Why:
- Solar eclipses happen when the Moon blocks the light from the Sun.
- A solar eclipse occurs when the Sun, the Moon and the Earth all line up. The Moon blocks the light of the Sun, and casts a shadow on the Earth.
Phenomena:
- During a total solar eclipse, the sky appears as dark as night, and you can see the Sun's glowing corona(a ring of light seen around the sun or moon, especially during an eclipse).
- Partial
- Total
- Annular: If the Moon is further away from the Earth than normal, then it will not appear large enough in the sky to cover the Sun. The Sun appears as a ring with a dark centre.
- Hybrid: A hybrid eclipse is one which appears as a total eclipse in some parts of the world, and as an annular eclipse in others.
Why don't you see a solar eclipse every month?
The Moon goes around the Earth once every four weeks. However, it revolves(revolve: to go in a circle around a central point) at an angle to Earth's path around the Sun. So the Earth, Moon and Sun do not end up in a straight line every month.
Why do we not see an eclipse when other objects pass in front of the Sun?
Like the Moon, the planets Mercury and Venus also pass between the Earth and the Sun from time to time. However, they are much further away from the Earth than the Moon. They look much smaller in the sky, and never block the light of the Sun completely.
In fact, it is an unlikely coincidence that we see total solar eclipses at all. The Moon is about 400 times smaller than the Sun, but also happens to be about 400 times closer. Therefore, the two bodies look about the same size in the sky.
The Moon is moving slowly away from the Earth (at a rate of a couple of centimetres a year.) In a billion years' time, the Moon will appear too small for there to be any total solar eclipses at all.

天啊要從發音學起!!!
一直以為準備雅思就是要:
1.多聽英國腔
2.說的流利用的句型高級文法沒錯
3.讀的快狠準
4.寫的豐富又快.
pronunciation.......那不是英文初學者才要碰的東西嗎?
錯錯錯大錯特錯!!!!!!!!!
事實是本人快被發音搞瘋了,發不出英國腔啊~~~~~~~~
BBC learningenglish網站有個單元"pronunciation",從剛接觸這個網站就知道有它的存在,壓根以為那不是我要接觸的單元,但是現在發現那是最難的單元(對我而言),光"ng"和"n"的發音就可以整翻一個人,教學影片中的老師邊發這兩種音讓聽者辨別,邊問觀賞者:
Can you hear the differances?
然後我就發瘋的說:聽唔啦~~~~~~~~~~~~~
看來要走的路真的很長,唉..........任重道遠死而後已

試聽雅思解題班
今天去試聽May老師的雅思解題班,真的受到震撼,發現想要考好真的要下功夫,花時間精讀每篇文章,每個句子,直到能背出來,一聽就知道在說甚麼.
像聽力,要精讀,要會寫出時間日期地名的正確寫法(對,就算不是當地人雅思試驗認為你就是要會拼當地地名),單複數要對,大小寫要對,否則就是"零分".
用開頭一點點時間,快速瀏覽題目,要先猜測可能答案,要有基本推理和語感能力.
閱讀也是要先分類題型,用五分鐘抓題目中關鍵字.整篇文章只能花10~15分鐘.
要改成英國口音對我而言是件艱鉅的任務,咬字發音.....天啊!
不過還是不想改變初衷,因該說更堅定了自己要進前幾名學校的意志.每當自己快要放棄時,看看美美的校園圖勉勵自我.
